Problem Discovery

Online shoppers often struggle with inconsistent sizing across brands, resulting in high return rates and frustration. Even with size charts, clothes frequently fail to fit due to variations in body proportions and brand measurements. This creates a trial-and-error shopping experience that wastes time and erodes trust in online fashion.

User interviews revealed recurring pain points: garments that fit in one area are too tight or loose in another, sleeves and hems that are consistently too short or long, and a lack of accurate information to predict fit before purchase. These issues are compounded by the absence of meaningful body-data input on most e-commerce platforms.

Addressing this challenge requires a personalized, data-driven fit prediction system. By leveraging precise body measurements and intelligent algorithms, TailorX aims to bridge the gap between diverse body shapes and rigid clothing sizing, reducing returns and improving the overall shopping experience.

Interdisciplinary Insight
Mapped the system architecture to connect scientific logic with technical modules in the app. Developed algorithm workflows to illustrate how string matching and data transformation improve fit prediction accuracy.

Consultation
As the sole project owner, I sought targeted advice from professors and experienced professionals to refine the technical approach and validate design feasibility. Their feedback informed adjustments to both the algorithm and user interface.

Data Collection & Modeling
Defined and standardized key body measurement fields, using digital silhouettes and numeric markers. Established data formats to ensure compatibility and reliable model training.

Prototyping
Created wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes integrating measurement input, algorithm processing, and personalized fit recommendations, simulating the complete user journey.

UI/UX Design

Designed the app’s core interfaces, including the onboarding screen, measurement input interface, and results page. The layouts were optimized for clarity and ease of use, ensuring users could quickly complete measurements and receive personalized fit recommendations. Developed a detailed user flow to map the entire journey from first launch to final output, aligning design elements with the underlying algorithm processes for a seamless experience.
